Purpose of the role
The Leading Legal Teams and People Coaching Specialist is a
key driver of the ATSILS Workforce
Development policy objectives which aim to engage and strengthen staff
capability across Queensland. A significant aspect of the role is to develop problem-solving
communication skills in managers. This role enhances performance management,
supports managers in complex employee matters, and delivers coaching
services. A creative component of this unique role contributes to emerging
**projects with the Executive and Human Resources staff such as**: Reviewing and
delivery of the Managers’ Leading Teams and People Coaching program; Developing and
rolling out communications learning programs State-wide (to include mentoring
materials, attending to staff engagement and performance feedback training); Evaluating the
effectiveness of our HR policy platform in addressing agreed training and
coaching needs.
Opportunity
Reporting to
the Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for reviewing the ATSILS
coaching system for improved
communication, evaluation, wellbeing, and leadership skills. Integral to the development of our Workforce Development Strategy and its
implementation, the role enables
a talented, confidential communicator the opportunity to engage with managerial
staff (the majority of whom are Legal Practitioners with clients). Your
engagement through contemporary coaching will engender similar behaviours State-wide.
Our corporate service team is Brisbane
based, but you will
be expected to travel and will, after a trial period, be able to work flexibly. You will undertake
regional training tours with selected managers on a scheduled basis.
**Selection Criteria**:
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA (6)
**1. Val ue s**: a lignment

the challenges our clients have faced, and continue to face, in their fight for
and their right to justice and equity.
**2. Qualifications/Experience**:
You are an experienced Human Resources
professional or Practice Manager. You have tertiary qualifications in Law, Business,
and/or Psychology, ideally a Graduate Diploma of Management or Human Resources
OR
Certificate IV or Diploma in Training and
Assessment, (or equivalent in instructional design), or a similar qualification
such as International Coaching Association accreditation, Management Education,
or Industrial Psychology with proven, respected expertise in the Performance
and Business/Communications Organisational Development sphere; AND
Two years’ experience in proven coaching
effectiveness and ability to provide constructive advice relating to individual
and team performance to managers.
3. Demonstrated experience in respectfully
performance managing employees, using training and coaching tools,
instructional design, strong written and oral communications, and
well-developed facilitation skills. Please
outline project evaluation skills that have aided managers to address staff
conflict, grievances, performance feedback and misconduct. Emphasis on business
or service outcomes is highly regarded.
4. Understanding of organisational
structures with ability to deliver coaching and training both in small groups
Your confidence in preparing, analysing, and
reporting on policies, briefing notes, workplace complaints, and other confidential
documents including employment contracts and performance plans;
Flexibility for travel State-wide (to this end a
Driver Licence and preparedness travel
is required);
Workplace legislation in the Commonwealth and
Queensland jurisdictions, as applied in a busy non-profit environment or a
professional services firm.
5. Proficient use of both Windows computer systems (Office, online learning,
and video communications) and consideration of contemporary leadership systems such as supervision and reflective practice, appreciating and
rejuvenating others, building culturally safe and diplomatic communications
etc... Experience in achieving coaching outcomes in consideration of a wide
range of managerial technical competence is highly valued.
6. Ability to identify
**training and onboarding needs**:
including interpersonal skills
(e.g. EQ, conflict
management), with recent ability to manage deadlines together with
reasonable attention to detail; and a willingness to learn with a proactive,
motivated, culturally sensitive and team-focused attitude.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA (2)
1. Membership
of the International Coaching Federation, CAHRI standing, or similar industry
alliance.
**2. Safety and security**:
- a willingness to undergo a Criminal Record Check to achieve a National Police Certificate (Australia-wide Disclosable Criminal History).
- Safety Education qualifications - e.g. Certificate IV - Work Health and
Safety, or other wellbeing experience aligned to a coaching or workplace focus
on employee engagement or human capital development.
