**Instrumental Music Teacher**

**Role Description**

Brisbane Adventist College has a strong tradition of music excellence, including our extra-curricular Instrumental Music Program. Our Instrumental Music Program provides various opportunities for students, including Voice, Keyboard and Piano, Strings, Guitar, and Woodwind, as well as several string ensembles. We are looking for experienced and passionate Instrumental Music specialists and ensemble conductors to join our expanding Instrumental Music Program.

The Instrumental Music Teacher role builds on our Program’s success, offering music teachers a collaborative environment that balances academic and artistic achievement. It also provides an opportunity to help shape a growing music tuition program while benefiting from the established excellence of performing arts at BAC.

We are currently seeking teachers of the following instruments, who are also comfortable conducting ensembles:

- Strings (Violin, Viola, Cello, Doble Bass) and
- Woodwind (Clarinet, Saxophone)

This position is currently for one day per week with the potential to expand further depending on student enrolments.

This position reports to the Instrumental Music Coordinator and is responsible for providing a high standard of teaching.

**Key Responsibilities**

The successful applicant will be responsible for:

- Delivering, to a high teaching standard private music lessons (usually 30-60 minutes) to students enrolled in the Instrumental Tuition Program
- managing invoicing and payments for the students they teach, and arranging any make-up lessons (according to the Instrumental Music Program student absence procedures)
- Conduct ensembles, in conjunction with other Instrumental Music teachers (where applicable)
- Identifying, preparing, and booking students for practical and theory music examinations (including AMEB, Trinity, and ABSRM)

**Skills and Experience**

The successful applicant will possess a commitment to music excellence and a passion for music education and nurturing student talent. They will have an excellent personal presentation, a warm friendly manner, and a willingness to support the Christian ethos of

the College, and to contribute music required for worship and liturgical celebrations when required.

**Essential Skills and Experience**
- Must have attained a Bachelor of Music (or equivalent), minimum.
- Must be able to demonstrate experience working with students of various age groups (both Primary and Secondary).
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated organisational and administrative abilities to effectively manage lesson schedules, ensemble rehearsals, and student progress.
- A commitment to staying current with the latest developments in music teaching practices and pedagogy.
- High-level performance skills and the ability to inspire excellence in students.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality education and artistic development.

**Mandatory Requirements**
- Applicant must hold, or be eligible, a Current Paid Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
- The legal right to work in Australia.

- January 2025 (Term 1, 2025)
