About us
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year.
The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community. This role operates within the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT) which sits within the Specialist Courts and Programs division of the Magistrates' Court of Victoria. VOCAT provides financial assistance to victims of crime committed in Victoria. VOCAT aims to assist victims of crime in their recovery by providing an accessible and empathetic service for those who require financial support as a result of an act of violence.
About the role
The position operates within a complex, demanding and sensitive environment that requires the capacity to exercise sound judgement, liaise effectively with a number of stakeholders including the Judiciary, Victoria Police, legal practitioners, various court user groups as well as members of the public
