Your Role

The OHS Advisor & Injury Management Specialist role is responsible for the case management of injured or unwell caregivers to enable their ability to stay at, or return to work. The role will develop, implement and coordinate early intervention rehabilitation programs to ensure the provision of an effective and responsive service; and provides input and advice for workers compensation issues and non-work related injury or illness to divisional line leaders.

The role will also initiate, promote and implement activities to improve OHS, managing OHS administrative processes, influence leaders and caregivers, and effectively using a range of OHS tools and monitoring processes to ensure OHS risks are managed and health, safety and wellbeing programs are implemented effectively.

The Position:
- Ensure early intervention and rehabilitation following injury or illness is promptly and effectively identified and that the caregiver’s line leader is actively involved in the process.- Promote and provide education to divisional leadership and caregivers on the requirements of early intervention and injury management.- Initiate early intervention referrals to preferred providers, where necessary, in consultation with the line leader.- Facilitate a return to work program involving relevant parties by identifying and negotiating appropriate duties and liaising with treating practitioners and line leaders in relation to the treatment regime and capacity for return to work.- Actively work with the workers’ compensation claims team to ensure a safe and early return to work whilst maintaining confidential and secure records using the injury management database.- Assess, authorise and monitor medical and like expenses.- Provide advice and ensure compliance to relevant legislation pertaining to workers’ compensation and best practice injury management standards in accordance with Group policies.- Undertake regular claims reviews with divisional line leaders and the CEO, including quarterly claims reviews at divisions (with the insurer).- Participate in any WorkSafe inspections pertaining to Return to Work (RTW) Inspectorate investigation/audits.-
- Support the OHS Manager in the implementation and monitoring of a systems approach to OHS as defined in the SJGHC OHS management system, policies and procedures.

We can offer you- Salary: $99,730 to $110,852 (1FTE), plus 11.5% superannuation-
