**The Hive Early Learning Fairfield** is a childcare centre and kindergarten offering care to children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. We are a 118 place, two-storey centre located in Melbourne’s northern suburbs, just a 10-minute drive from both Northland Shopping Centre and the bustling High Street in Northcote. **About the Role**:

- Assist with food preparation under the direction of chefs and kitchen staff.
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils, ensuring all kitchen equipment is clean and ready for use.
- Keep the kitchen, workstations, and storage areas clean and organized.
- Assist with stock rotation and inventory management as needed.
- Follow health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe kitchen environment.
- Previous experience as a kitchen hand or in a similar role is preferred but not essential.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and handle physically demanding tasks.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices is a plus.
- Knowledge of halal cooking guidelines
- Understanding of the Long Day Care dietary guidelines
- Knowledge and understanding of cooking for children with allergies, medical conditions and varying dietary requirements
- Understanding of the Long Day Care dietary guidelines
- To be aware of National Quality Standards
- To have highly developed organisational skills
- To have excellent communication skills

**Qualification**:

- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (Health & Community HLTFSE001, HLTFSE005, HLTFSE007) - Current First Aid qualification including Anaphylaxis and Asthma
- Current Working with Children Check (employee)

Pay: $24.63 - $25.00 per hour
