**The Opportunity**
Monash University’s Faculty of Science is seeking a Research Fellow in Ecology / Biodiversity Science is being sought to join in on an exciting research project on Thinning in Ecological Networks within the School of Biological Sciences and the the ARC SRI Securing Antarctica’s Environmental Future (SAEF) program. The SAEF program delivers interdisciplinary research to forecast environmental changes across the Antartic region, to deploy effective environmental stewardship strategies in the face of this change, and to secure Antarctica as a natural reserve devoted to peace and science.
Your role as Research Fellow in Ecology/Biodiversity Science will be responsible for designing and delivering research outcomes, publications and other forms of research-related dissemination whilst contributing to the research and activities.
**Key responsibilities include but not limited to**:
- The conduct of research under limited supervision either as a member of a team or, where appropriate, independently and the production or contribution to the production of conference and seminar papers and publications from that research
- Limited administrative functions primarily connected with the area of research of the academic
- Development of a limited amount of research-related material for teaching or other purposes with appropriate guidance from other staff
- Occasional contributions to teaching in relation to their research project(s)
- Experimental design and or conduct of advanced research data and modelling procedures
- Attendance at meetings associated with research or the work of the organisational unit to which the research is connected and/or at departmental, school and/or faculty meetings and/or membership of a limited number of committees
- Advice within the field of the staff member's research to postgraduate students
Strong skills in statistical analysis and programming languages such as R or Python are essential. You should possess well-developed research planning and organizational abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively within a team. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are a must, along with a demonstrated awareness of confidentiality, privacy, and information handling principles.
