SSI has recently been chosen as one of six organisations for The **Home Care Workforce Support** Program Funded by the Australian Department of Health, the program will help senior Australians to remain at home by growing the personal care workforce.

SSI will deliver the program in NSW and the ACT with support from member organisations.

We will help to develop and enhance aged care by:

- promoting training and support opportunities for new recruits and others who wish to upskill
- supporting new recruits to navigate and access training opportunities
- providing virtual mentoring and career guidance support to students undertaking training
- linking trained personal carers to job vacancies in the home and community care sector
- providing advice and training to the aged care industry on recruitment strategies and how to maintain a diverse workforce

**About the Role**

The purpose of the Student Support Officer role is to guide and support students into the aged care workforce. You will work closely with students to complete screening activities and ensure potential new recruits possess the required personal characteristics for working in the home care sector (such as working with vulnerable people checks, psychometric testing, etc.). You will also check RPL eligibility and offer tailored support. You will work closely with them throughout their training and placement and link them to employment opportunities.

**Essential Criteria**
- Administrative, organisational, budgetary, reporting and planning skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and motivational skills.
- Student focus and the ability to act empathetically and with sensitivity and understanding.
- Analytical interpretation and advanced problem-solving abilities.
- Flexibility with days / hours of work.
- Tertiary qualifications in the field
