**About you**:
- A recently conferred PhD in ecology, environmental management, biotechnology, or a related field
- A strong Te Ao Māori worldview
- General knowledge of scientific approaches and methodologies, with a strong technical background in marine ecology, environmental management, biotechnology, or a related field
- Experience with data analysis and interpreting results
- Experience in report/manuscript preparation
- Statistics and experimental design experience and knowledge
- Strong oral and writing skills and ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals
- A positive working attitude and keenness to work with others to achieve team-based outcomes
- A self-directed attitude with the ability to use initiative
- Preparedness to work flexible hours and long days when required, with notice
- The ability to carry out field work safely and efficiently
- A willingness to learn and ability to adapt
- Vaccinated, or willingness to be vaccinated, for job specific vaccines as per H&S Procedure Manual.

**About the team**:
The Invasion Ecology & Management Team is part of the Biosecurity Group at Cawthron and works on a broad array of marine invasion projects. We undertake research to understand vectors, distributions, ecology, and impacts of marine pests and pathogens and we work with industry and government to develop tools and strategies for risk mitigation and management. Our work has a strong applied focus and we pride ourselves in delivering tangible, real-world outcomes to protect the marine environment and maritime industries form marine invasive species.
