**Position overview**

ANU has an international reputation for research and education relevant to the health and well-being of the population of Australia, as well as that of the developing world. This is achieved through discovery research, applied research in health service settings, research-led teaching in health and medical sciences, and the translation of research findings into practice and policy. The ANU College of Health and Medicine comprises the School of Medicine and Psychology, the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health. These schools work together to deliver world-class research and education across the spectrum of medicine and health-related fields, working in partnership with the health sector at local, national and international levels.
The Academic Unit of General Practice is the organisational unit within the School of Medicine and Psychology with a focus on general practice and primary health care research and education. Our educational responsibilities are predominately in general practice as well as contributions to clinical skills, population health, rural and indigenous health and evidence-based medicine within the Doctor of Medicine and Surgery program, Medicinae ac Chirurgiae Doctoranda, (MChD), of the School of Medicine and Psychology. Our research agenda involves articulating and measuring the value of primary health care within the Australian health care system and educational research.
The Lecturer is physically located in the Academic Unit of General Practice on the Canberra Hospital Campus and reports to the Professor of General Practice, Director, AUGP. The position works with the team of GP academics, supervisors, educators, and tutors teaching into Phases 1 and 2 of the MChD program; with involvement in medical student examinations in clinical skills and general practice.
