**Primary Purpose**:
The Food Technology Assistant is responsible for assisting the Food Technology Teacher with food shopping,
preparation and ordering for all Food Technology classes from Year 7 -10, according to the schedule provided.
The Food Technology Assistant is also responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the food technology
facility and the materials within.

**Position in Context**:
The** **Food Technology Assistant is responsible to the Food Technology Teacher and the Head of School in regard
to the food preparation and general duties detailed in the position description.

**Major Duties and Responsibilities**:
In consultation with the Food technology Teacher, the Food Technology Assistant assists with the following:
**1. Food and Technology class support**
- Collation of class orders from advance schedule provided by Food Technology Teacher.
- Shopping, purchase and collection of class requirements.
- Shopping, purchase and collection of student co-curricular catering requirements, where orders are

given in time to meet the regular shop for class provisions.
- Sourcing of all ingredients, including those of a more unusual nature.
- Preparation for individual practical lessons.
- Portioning and preparation of ingredients for class activities.
- Preparation of teacher demonstration and ingredients for classes.***

**2. General duties**
- Liaison with support staff regarding maintenance, cleaning, ordering and organization/storage of

food.
- The organisation and monitoring of the storage of food (ie. pantry, fridges, freezers).
- Ordering of bulk food and equipment supplies.
- Checking daily and bulk orders.
- Replenishing all classroom stocks and supplies.
- Cleaning of the Food Technology area and equipment within.
- Management of cleaning supplies.
- Cleaning of demonstration dishes.
- Assistance with the selection and purchase of classroom equipment.
- Regular and cyclic cleaning of equipment: fridge, freezers, stoves, microwaves, etc
- Laundering and folding of tea towels, dishcloths and tablecloths.
- Advise the Maintenance Department of equipment repairs and/or servicing required.
- Labeling of equipment/food storage containers.
- Colour coding of equipment as required.
