**About the role**
Reporting to the Area Manager, the **Fibre Splicer Technician **is expected to participate in teams engaged in jointing or splicing activities and may supervise the work of less senior jointers or splicers. This position involves interaction with customers and employees at several levels.
Completing technical works across Panel or Wideband, Data IP & DOE projects are also part of the Splicer’s main responsibilities.
There will be regular travel within the “Area of Responsibility” - this will be a NSW role and the area will cover Metro & Regional NSW, with our Head Office being based in Kingsgrove. Travel may involve working away from home (overnight stays & remote travel) and be available for after-hours emergency fault response if required.

**What you’ll be doing**:
- Undertake jointing/splicing activities as required by the Manager
- Coach less experienced jointers/splicers to enhance competence and skills
- Undertake fault location and restoration using OTDR testing equipment
- Participate in a small workgroup engaged in jointing/splicing activities
- Report on critical delays that affect the delivery of projects
- Assist the hauling & civil team from time to time
- Be able to complete own workbooks
- Daily reporting to Manager with progress updates
- Booking on CMART’s and completing mandatory safety paperwork daily
- Co-ordinating day-to-day work activities, organizing materials, access to buildings etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of construction Drawings
**About you**
- Telstra Advanced Jointer / Splicer Accreditation
- Telstra Cut Over knowledge
- Telstra OTDR experience
- Confident in completing Telstra Optic Fibre workbooks
- Confident in splicing and handling large optic fibre cables daily
- Confident in working on Telstra wideband projects
- Understanding Telstra technical manuals
- ACMA License
- Familiar with rack and sub-rack installation inside Telstra exchanges
- Current Australian Driver’s License
- Willing to do some overtime, night shifts, and working away from time to time.
