Colac Otway Shire Council is looking for a Coordinator Financial Accounting to join their organisation. From the hinterland forests of the Otway Ranges to the Great Ocean Road coastline and located only 2 hours west of Melbourne - Colac is the key industrial, commercial and service centre for the shire and surrounding region, with Apollo Bay as a second major urban centre on the coast. The role is based in Colac with a population forecast to reach 20,000 by 2050, and Colac Otway Shire has a strategic plan to guide sustainable residential growth and infrastructure development. This role will report to the Manager Financial Services and provides an excellent opportunity to work with a high performing Executive Leadership Team.

As the Coordinator Financial Accounting; Key responsibilities for this role include:

- General Financial Reporting
- Asset Accounting
- Statutory Reporting
- Manage Inventory Systems
- Oversee General Taxation Activities
- Monitor Council Treasury
- Policy Development and Implementation
- Assist internal and external auditors

Experience and skills required include:

- Demonstrated experience in managing the day-to-day operations of a business unit
- Extensive experience in financial reporting, forecasting, and preparation of financial statements, budgets and legislative grants acquittal reports
- Excellent knowledge of accounting standards and solid understanding of relevant legislation
- Demonstrated experience in the use of complex integrated financial systems Extensive experience in a local government, or other complex organisation is desirable.
