The Principal Road Advisor reports to the Manager of Engineering Services and provides expert road design services, and develops, implements and maintains road design standards, specifications, and guidelines.

In this role you will:

- Conduct thorough reviews and provide expert feedback on road design matters for departmental projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and best practices.
- Deliver expert technical advice on road design matters to internal stakeholders, supporting decision-making processes and ensuring the implementation of effective design solutions.
- Investigate, review, assess and recommend approvals for new and innovative road design initiatives, incorporating the latest technologies and methodologies, to enhance the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of road infrastructure.
- Contribute technical knowledge to tender evaluation processes and the procurement of technical services within the profession and related disciplines.
- Update and maintain master specifications and standard drawings, ensuring they reflect current industry standards and technological advancements.

**Qualifications**
Degree in Engineering providing eligibility for membership as a Professional Engineer of the Institution of Engineers, Australia.

**Special Conditions**
A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.

Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.

**Remuneration**
PO4 - $110,696 to $120,470 pa + superannuation.
