**Position Information**:
Nowra Hill Public School is approximately 153 years old and is neighboured by farmland and small acreage properties. It is located approximately 6km south of Nowra CBD and approximately 1km from HMAS Albatross Naval Base and Army Parachute Training Base. It has strong links with Tingara, a Defence Pre School and Kids Crew a Defence Before and After School care facility directly across the road. The current school enrolment is 134 students of which 9% identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Due to the proximity to the Naval Base, 38% of families are defence families and we employ a Defence School Mentor to support student wellbeing and resilience when parents are deployed around Australia and overseas. We currently have 6 classes with all but one being stage. As the school adheres to the Department of Education's enrolment policy and procedures the school has seen a decline in student numbers, with less families from out of the area. Our dedicated teaching staff understand the importance of explicit teaching in literacy and numeracy to maximise the achievement of all students. Our staff are a dynamic mix of early career and experienced educators, all of whom genuinely care for students enrolled at Nowra Hill.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with a proven capacity to work proactively as a leadership team and effectively balance the dual roles of an exemplary classroom teacher with the complex and extensive responsibilities of an Assistant Principal in a small school.
Demonstrated ability to work alongside teachers to build expertise of all staff through identifying and leading differentiated high impact professional learning to improve student out comes in literacy and numeracy with a strong emphasis on evaluating the impact of evidence informed research-based teaching.

A visible, collaborative and approachable leader with outstanding organisation, communication and interpersonal skills, who builds positive, authentic relationships with all members of the school community.

Demonstrated capacity to implement and lead a range of whole school programs that enhance curriculum opportunities such as sport and informational technology.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5.
