**Your Role**
As a Positive Behavior Practitioner at Glow Healthcare, you'll play a crucial role in supporting individuals with behavioral challenges and promoting positive behavior change. You'll utilize a blend of community, clinical, and telehealth services to assist NDIS participants of all ages.
Working closely with a diverse team, you'll lead the adoption of a tailored therapeutic approach that integrates positive behavior support and person-centered active support within a human rights framework. Your responsibilities will include hands-on guidance, coaching, and mentoring for participants and staff, offering expert consultancy, and fostering partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
**Responsibilities**
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) to identify the root causes of challenging behaviors.
- Develop individualized behavior support plans based on assessment findings and evidence-based practices.
- Implement behavior interventions and strategies to facilitate positive behavior change and skill development.
- Collaborate with participants, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams to implement and monitor behavior support plans.
- Provide training and support to participants, families, and caregivers on implementing behavior management techniques.
- Collect and analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of behavior interventions and make necessary adjustments.
- Review and minimize the use of restrictive practices in line with NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission guidelines.
**About You**
We prioritize nurturing and developing talented practitioners over a checklist of qualifications, although we do have specific requirements:
- Hold 'Core' status certification from the NDIS Commission (proof of letter required).
- Previous experience as a Behavior Support Practitioner working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or other behavioral challenges (including conducting FBAs and writing Behavior Support Plans).
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in fields such as Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Counseling, Social or Disability Studies, Teaching, or Social Sciences.
- Experience working with restrictive practices.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and work independently.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports.
- Possess a current Driver's License and the flexibility to travel to participants.
- Hold an NDIS Worker Clearance (or willingness to apply).
- Obtain a Working with Children Clearance (or willingness to apply).
