About us
Integrity, Legal and Law Reform (ILLR) supports the Attorney-General and DJCS ministers to deliver criminal and civil law policy responsibilities by providing legal, policy, integrity and assurance expertise to DJCS and Justice Ministers. We work collaboratively with key entities across the justice system and the department to ensure policy reform is strategic, relevant, holistic and people-centred.
Within ILLR, Justice Policy and Legislation (JP&L) leads policy development and law reform across civil and criminal law, including the delivery of the Attorney-General's (and other justice Ministers) legislative reform program and national reform projects through the Standing Council of Attorneys-General.
Legal Policy Officer positions are available in three JP&L branches. Further information about each branch is contained in the Position Description.
About the role
Within JP&L, the Legal Policy Officer is responsible for contributing to the co-ordination, research, development, implementation, review and reform of policy and legislation across the Attorney-General's portfolio. You will be joining an inclusive and supportive group and will be provided with a range of training and development opportunities.
About you
- Knowledge or experience of processes for developing policy and legislation within a parliamentary system
- Policy skills and experience, or skills and experience in an associated field (for example, in legal practice)
- Effective writing skills to assist with preparing project briefs, policy reports and recommendations.
How to apply
**FOR INTERNAL VPS EMPLOYEES**:

Upon commencement of employment with the department you will be required to provide evidence that you have an up-to-date vaccination status within the timelines specified by the department into the DJCS Service Portal. This includes evidence of all doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).

Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19 vaccine doses.
