This role involves working off the floor to ensure children's inclusion within the service and supporting educators in implementing inclusive practices. You'll engage in critical reflection to determine the service's needs in supporting children's diverse range of needs. **About Surry Hills Neighbourhood Centre OSHC**
We are a non-for-profit out of school hours care service that offer before and after school care and vacation care at Crown Street Public School. We work closely with our families and local community to offer high quality care and pride ourselves on having a close knit and supportive team of educators.
**About the role**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Behaviour Management Support**
- Collaborate with the OSHC Coordinator and team members to develop and implement positive behaviour management strategies.
- Provide guidance and support to educators in managing challenging behaviours and promoting positive interactions among children.
**Off the Floor Support**
- Act as a support resource for educators during OSHC sessions, assisting with behaviour management, conflict resolution, and activity supervision as needed.
- Offer guidance and support to educators on effective engagement strategies and techniques for promoting a positive and inclusive environment.
**Inclusion Support**
- Work closely with the OSHC Coordinator to ensure that all children, including those with diverse needs, are fully included and supported within the program.
- Provide individualised support to children with additional needs, helping them to participate fully in OSHC activities and interactions.
**Documentation and Implementation**
- Document observations of children's behaviour, emotional regulation, and interactions, identifying areas for improvement or additional support.
- Collaborate with the OSHC Coordinator and team to develop and implement new strategies to support children's behaviour, emotional regulation, and inclusion within the program.
**Professional Development**
- Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in behaviour management, emotional regulation, and inclusive education.
- Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting children's behavioural and emotional needs.
**Requirements**:
- Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain.
- Completed or working towards ACECQA approved Diploma or Certificate is preferred but not essential
- First Aid (or willing to obtain)
- Current Child Protection certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to think creatively and design engaging activities
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
- Previous experience working with children in a similar role, preferably in an OSHC setting.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work varying hours and days as required.
**Working Hours**:
Monday - Friday (can be flexible based on availability)
Before School Care: 7:00am - 9:00am
After School Care: 2:00pm - 5:00pm
**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent, Casual
Pay: $27.00 - $33.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 - 25 per week
Schedule:
- Afternoon shift
