**About the Role**
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Category Manager to join the University Commercial Services team and play a pivotal role in driving strategic commercial initiatives on behalf of the University. As a key member of the team, the Category Manager will be responsible for understanding the University's cost base and implementing measures to achieve "Better Value for the University." The role involves engaging stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication, and developing effective procurement strategies to deliver sustainable and measurable benefits. The Category Manager will contribute to building the reputation of the Commercial Services function as a professional and trusted entity, known for adding significant value to the University's commercial activities. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this position offers a chance to make a meaningful impact in the organization's success and growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing advice and recommendations to enhance procurement practices and expand categories with preferred supplier arrangements.
- Contributing to surpassing team financial targets and manage competitive bids and sourcing processes.
- Manage contracts, including contracts negotiation, drafting and implementation.
- Develop category management plans for relevant categories and provide support to progress best practice Strategic Sourcing and Category management.

**Who we are looking for**

You will also have:

- A relevant qualification including procurement-related qualifications. Extensive experience in category management, procurement, and contract management.
- Ability to collect, analyse detailed data and being able to utilise the data to identify potential cost savings and enhance efficiency.
- Experience with tender processes and detailed-level tender development.
- Good computer literacy skills, including Microsoft suit, especially Excel.
- Utilise a diverse range of quantitative and qualitative data sources to identify potential cost savings and enhance efficiency within the Construction/Facilities categories.
- Through understanding of Service contracts. FM related categories experience is preferred.
- A willingness to work enthusiastically, be flexible, with a friendly, approachable with a “can do” anything attitude. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively as a team

The Office of the COO provides executive and administrative support for the Chief Operating Officer’s role as leader of university operations and as head of the COO Portfolio.

The core objective of the CFOG team is to advance University strategy through financial leadership and innovation, strategic sourcing and contracting. CFOG has responsibility for:

- Finance strategy and financial performance
- Corporate budgeting and accounting
- Management of financial risks
- Oversight of the University's capital plan and spending
- Procurement governance and sourcing
- Supplier and contract management
