**The Remote Pilot, RPAS (PO3) is a role in which you will**:

- Complete pre-flight planning, including specific Job Safety Analysis's (JSA's), risk assessments and safety plans;
- Observe and interpret meteorological data to ensure safe operating conditions for RPAS operations;
- Review aeronautical charts to identify all relevant features, hazards and risks such as, airfields, flight paths, and likely aircraft operations and movements to inform flight planning, risk assessments and JSA's;
- Complete pre-flight checks
- Obtain approval of risk assessment and flight plan/s from the Chief Remote Pilot before commencing air operations
- Operate aviation radio equipment and liaise with air traffic control and/or other manned aircraft to maintain safe flying operations and conditions for all users of the airspace;
- Control the RPA in airspace with other manned and unmanned aircraft;
- Complete all flight and aircraft log records;
- Conduct aircraft and associated equipment inspection and maintenance as per documented procedures;
- Complete all post-flights checks, records and de-briefs as required;
- Assist Compliance Centres and other workgroups to identify opportunities to enhance compliance data capture;
- Provide rapid deployment capability to support emergent issues such as incidents, disaster events, or compliance response/s to time critical matters. This may require officers to work out-side of normal business hours, at night, and/or include early or late starts and finishes with limited notice;
- Participate in all required training and education required by legislation and organisational requirements;
- Maintain all required CASA certification to enable lawful flight operations;
- Ensure all CASA and program reporting requirements are completed and submitted as required;
- Provide any additional support to the RPAS program as required by the Chief Remote Pilot, this may include administration functions, delivery of presentations, development of reports, or any other support required;
- Ensure ongoing effective communications with the Chief Remote Pilot and/or Deputy-Chief Remote Pilot to enable effective governance and program success, including where adverse incidents or actions may impact on lawful or safe flying operations;
- Ensure operations, including maintenance activities, are compliant with the Queensland Government - Queensland Drones Strategy, the Queensland Government Drones Use Policy, and the DES RPAS Policy;
- Work collaboratively with other workgroups within DES to provide fit-for-purpose service delivery, including timely disaster recovery and incident management responses;
- Support investigations of all incidents, including reporting to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, and Departmental incident reporting processes;
- Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations people.

- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing requirements, and focus on business outcomes.
