The Wayside Community Café is the hub of our community, serving affordable wholesome meals to some of Sydney's most vulnerable as well as staff and the local community.

The Community Café is also a social enterprise that forms part of Wayside’s youth employment pathway program, Wingspan. Young adults from Wingspan work within the café to develop valuable skills and to overcome barriers to sustainable employment, before transitioning out into jobs of their choosing.

We are looking for an experienced Barista/All Rounder who believes and shares in Waysides mission of ‘Love over Hate’ and will have an uncompromising belief in the value of each young person, and in their ability to succeed in their employment goals.

**Your responsibilities**:

- Day-to-day management and supervision of the Café (on a roster with one other supervisor)
- Supervision of Wingspan Program trainees including formal and informal training and completion of work based assessments
- Upholding exemplary standards of service and customer/visitor experience
- Ensuring the café remains a cost efficient and smooth-running operation

**You will have**:

- At least 6 months experience as a Barista.
- Ability to manage multiple coffee orders and general café front of house duties.
- The kindness, empathy and patience required to supervise and train inexperienced or new team members
- A desire to be of service to some of our most vulnerable community members, including people experiencing homelessness and social isolation
- Flexible, open, can-do attitude
- A desire to make a real difference in our community

**Shifts**

**Mornings - 5 shifts per week**

Wayside Chapel has provided unconditional love, care, and support for people on and around the streets of Kings Cross since 1964. Today, under the banner of Love over Hate, Wayside runs two community services centres, an outreach service, mental health programs, two community cafés, and an Aboriginal Program.
