The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Cost Controller and Junior/Graduate Cost Controller with an accounting and/or finance qualification to join our team. Both roles are based in our Perth office with dual reporting to the Senior Cost Controller and Project Delivery Manager.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Preparation of project financial forecasts reflecting the projects' current position at 'Actual to Date', 'Forecast at Complete', 'Current Budget' and 'Forecast to Complete'. This includes ensuring alignment project schedules, committed costs and reconciliation to financial system.
- Ensure forecast variances are communicated to the management team to enable corrective actions to be taken where necessary.
- Ensure project risks and opportunities are accurately reflected in the risk and opportunity schedule.
- Receive all project related accounts payable invoices. Code, check and distribute for approval.
- Raise sales invoices and submit to clients. Monitor receipts and notify Project Managers of late payments.
- Submit cost report to Project Managers to review and assist in updating forecast.
- Report project cash flows for each major currency.
- Maintain standard format for all project forecast reports where possible.
- Project performance reporting and scenario analysis to support project decision making.
- Ensure all project cost control activities are undertaken according to procedure and, if varied, proper authorisation is sought.
- Work with Proposal's and Tender teams to provide commercial analysis / data and advice for the preparation of tenders.
- Ensure project cost-revenue report, risk and opportunity register and cash flow is provided to the Project Manager for inclusion in the project monthly reports.
Your success in securing this role will require
- Formal Accounting / Finance qualifications or equivalent work experience.
- Good Microsoft Excel skills, particularly regarding data analysis and reporting.
- Good communication skills in both spoken and written English, explaining financial terms and theories to non-financial project team members.
- Strong influencing skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience with IFS would be highly desirable.
