As a member of the WCS team, the purpose of the WHSE Officer position is to improve and implement WHSE Systems, Processes and Procedures, in line with legislative and company requirements, whilst providing support that contributes positively to the health, safety and well-being of all employees, contractors and the environment.
**Responsibilities**:
- Promote a high level of standard across health, safety and environmental management in the region and adhere to safe work practices at all times.
- Be willing to learn and develop as a WHSE Professional
- Assist in the development and deployment of company policies, systems and programs to ensure positive WHSE outcomes are reached for staff, clients and contractors
- Assist in the provision of WHSE training to staff on industry best practice, company requirements, legislative requirements, and topical WHSE items for the region
- Assist and report on accident/incident investigations and prevention initiatives and strategies
- Assist with project and facility compliance events including audits, inspections, observations and reviews.
- Confidence in communicating across the business, in open forums and in response to WHSE related requirements - ability to seek advice and learn how to best approach WHSE across the projects and business as things arise.
- Providing written and documented KPI reports for projects and facilities
- Participate in WHSE in Construction, Project and Facility Risk Assessments
- Respond to workplace, project and facility demands with clear and concise methods and a good ability to prioritise demands
- Be a team player with a strong work ethic and ability to engage with all workers, in person.
- Be comfortable in attending construction site-based projects, facility workshops and office environments and have an understanding of the WHSE related risks that may occur within.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential
- Cert 4 WHS with recent, relevant, WHSE Experience
- experience in implementing WHSE
- Proficient user of the Microsoft Office Suite in particular Word and Excel
- Prepared to travel as required to meet project demands and ensure high risk activities are managed effectively
- Incident Investigation Qualification or willingness to train in techniques such as ICAM
Preferred
- Experience in a Rail Environment
- Cert IV Training & Assessing or willingness to obtain credentials
- Auditing experience or willingness to obtain credentials
