Your new role
An experienced analyst to undertake quantitative analysis of a range of datasets to inform policy, practice, and program design for preventive health.

The role sits within the Clinical Policy & Engagement team, Population Health Policy and Engagement Branch. The team responsible for providing state-wide leadership to embed prevention within the health system by engaging with clinical stakeholders on a range of programs and initiatives and manages a range of preventative health initiatives and policies. Priority areas include ‘Embedding Prevention Across the Health System’, ‘Partnering to address social determinants of health in our communities’ and ‘Accelerating digital prevention service delivery’. Focus areas include work to support the First 2000 Days Strategy, Healthy Eating and Active Living, Smoking and e-cigarettes, and sexual health.

What you'll need to succeed
The Data Analyst will work closely with the Data & Evaluation and the Project Management & Reporting teams and other Ministry branches, divisions and Pillars. The person will access data from a variety of sources, conduct analysis and create useable reports to inform our work. The person will need to be confident in their abilities to understand the data, the end user’s needs and to undertake this work independently.

Responsibilities/requirements include:

- Develop and manage data collection, handling & reporting systems
- Plan, oversee and quality-assure quantitative data analysis using available tools and statistical packages, for example, SPSS, R, Stata, SAS, etc.
- Prepare high-quality reports and dashboards (using PowerBI or similar business intelligence tools), presenting the analysis outputs and synthesis of findings for a range of audiences (including policy and program teams).
- Analyse, identify and provide insights on data trends and issues impacting programs and initiatives
- Manage complex, sensitive data inquiries
- Engage and Collaborate with a range of stakeholders across the Centre for Population Health and the Ministry of Health, Local Health Districts, Networks and health partners.
- Potential to support the development or updating of data dictionaries where required.
- Ensure all analysis and reporting complies with data governance and management guidelines.

What you'll get in return

This is a 6 month contract role paying between $73 to $85 per hour + Super
