The College is seeking to employ a highly skilled and knowledgeable educator who has
experience in the planning and implementation of adjustments for students with identified
needs. The successful applicant will be appropriately qualified and ready to work within a
professional and cohesive team.
**Key Selection Criteria**
the successful applicant for the above position must be able to provide evidence to support the
following criteria:
- Strong personal Christian faith and be a regular and practising member of a Bible-based
Christian Church
- Evidence of innovative classroom practices that are effective with Senior School
students
- A high standard of competency and proficiency as a classroom teacher
- Have experience in collaborative planning processes for students with identified needs
- including monitoring, and review of adjustments
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of how to develop and implement Individual
- Educational Plans
- Accurate and thorough management of documentation
- Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills, critical analysis and
- problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritise and work as part of the Learning Support team, as well as teachers,
parents, students and external specialists
**Qualifications**
- Appropriate teaching qualifications and NESA accreditation
- Qualifications and experience in teaching Inclusive Education would be an advantage

- Resume outlining teaching, leadership and other experience relevant to the position
- A statement of educational philosophy

- Valid NSW Working with Children details (WWCC)

**Junior School Learning Support Teacher**
**Primary Purpose**:
The Learning Support Teacher will work with other staff to be an effective professional who
demonstrates thorough curriculum knowledge, can teach and assess effectively, take
responsibility for professional development and promotes the aims and objectives of the
College.
**Accountable to**:
The Principal through the Deputy Principal & Head of Junior School
**Directly reports to**:
Learning Support Coordinator (P - 6)
**Relates to**:
1. Director of Teaching and Learning - Junior School
2. Director of Operations and Welfare - Junior School
3. Learning Support Coordinator
4. Classroom Teachers
**Major Responsibilities**
The Learning Support Teacher is responsible to the Principal through the Deputy Principal/
Head of Junior School for:
**Planning, Teaching and Class Management**
Teaching allocated students by planning their teaching to achieve progression of learning
through:
Identify clear teaching objectives and specify how they will be taught and assessed.
Set appropriate and demanding expectations; set clear targets, building on prior
attainment.
Be aware of and make provision for students who have learning needs.
Provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge.
Make effective use of assessment and ensure coverage of programs of study.
Maintain discipline in accordance with the College's procedures and encourage good
practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour and standards of work.
Use a variety of teaching methods.
Evaluate own teaching critically to improve effectiveness.
Liaise with the Learning Support Coordinator to ensure the implementation of College
policy and best practice
