Are you passionate about safety, planning, and making a real difference? We’re looking for a proactive and organised **Emergency Preparedness Coordinator** to help ensure our university is ready to respond to emergencies - calmly, effectively, and with confidence.
**The Role**
You’ll be working across a complex estate that includes varied facility types and risk profiles. No two days will be the same - you'll need to balance scheduled training and compliance activities with the occasional unexpected event. Your contribution will directly impact the safety and wellbeing of thousands of staff, students, and visitors. In this key role, you’ll be at the centre of our emergency planning and response efforts, supporting compliance, training, and readiness across a diverse and dynamic university environment.
**What you’ll do**:
- Deliver engaging, face-to-face emergency training across multiple campuses
- Manage and maintain evacuation diagrams, emergency signage, and response equipment
- Coordinate our network of emergency wardens - from recruitment and training to ongoing engagement
- Conduct Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) assessments
- Support campus-wide compliance with emergency planning and contribute to broader safety initiatives

- A statement addressing the Essential Criteria listed below demonstrating your qualifications and experience with examples.
- A degree with at least four years subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience in a specialist expertise; or a combination of relevant experience and or education/training and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is required.
- Demonstrated experience in the development, delivery, and evaluation of emergency preparedness training, including warden inductions and refresher sessions.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in maintaining safety records and compliance documentation.
- Well-developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels and contribute to a collaborative and safety-focused team environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of workplace obligations to, and experience in leading and cultivating workplace practices and behaviours that promote, support and maintain a safe, healthy, equitable, diverse and respectful workplace; including responding appropriately to adverse accidents, incidents, behaviours, issues, reports and the like.
**DESIRABLE CRITERIA**
- Certificate in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing would be highly regarded.
- Familiarity with the Higher Education Sector or knowledge of public sector requirements, structures and policies
