**YMCA Vocational Schools** provide adjusted education programs and vocational training to secondary students, who would benefit from an alternative learning environment. With campuses across Brisbane, the school supports students in their journey to employment. Students participate in programs dedicated to enhancing practical and personal skills at a pace that encourages school attendance, engagement and confidence.

We are recruiting a **VET Lead** on a **permanent, full time basis** for the **YMCA Junior Ipswich Campus** located at **Bundamba, QLD.**

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

The role of VET Lead is critical to the streamlined delivery of Vocational Education and Training to the campus in order to provide job creation and job seeker opportunities to vulnerable young people. This will be achieved by working with relevant employers, industry bodies, training and employment service providers and community networks to develop approaches and strategies that engage and meet the needs of our students.
- Work collaboratively with the VET Coordinator engaged at your campus
- Establish and maintain relationships with local partners and industry bodies to facilitate prospective employment opportunities
- Develop clear pathways for work experience and possible future employment for students
- Plan and facilitate job pathway activities and programs for students
- Build and maintain impactful relationships with students so that their strengths, passions, interests and wellbeing needs can be supported appropriately
- Coordinate the development and implementation of training and employment pathways designed to lead students towards school-based traineeships, apprenticeships and employment
- Assist in the delivery of wellbeing and enrichment programs
- As required, liaise with other staff, parents and students concerning the vocational educational, employability, social and emotional status of a participant;
- Contribute to the maintenance case management notes as required

**SELECTION CRITERIA**

The ideal applicant will hold a genuine passion for assisting young people in understanding their full potential, regardless of their background or individual circumstances. You will thrive in the knowledge that your guidance can impact young people to recognise their true value in a holistic sense and gain fulfilment from seeing them grow into young, empowered adults.
- Certificate IV in Career Development or similar qualification; or significant demonstrated experience in Youth Work (plus working toward the completion of the above certificate or similar)
- Significant demonstrated experience in working with at-risk young people in a VET environment
- Demonstrated ability in the creation of comprehensive industry-specific programs that provide participants with hands-on experiences and opportunities to link with genuine employment opportunities
- Up-to-date knowledge of the current labour market, employability skills and acquisition strategies, coupled with the ability to effectively communicate these to young people
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide high quality reporting
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong, effective relationships with diverse groups
- Hold a Positive Notice Blue Card, or willingness to obtain one
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate, or willingness to obtain them
