The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented Safety Management System Policy & Promotions Lead to oversee BDA SMS Policy and documentation review, development and update to ensure ongoing compliance with Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) SMS Regulations and Enterprise Requirements, and manage SMS training support, communications and promotion. The role may be based in Brisbane or Newcastle (RAAF Base Williamtown).
**Responsibilities**:
- Oversee and technical leadership of the BDA SMS policy and process writings and framework in coordination with BDA Products & Services Safety Leaders, BDA Functional Leaders and the BDA SMS Lead.
- Technical authority for the SMS Training Support Plan;
- Technical authority for the SMS Communication Strategy / Plan in close alignment with EHS and Quality Functions;
- Technical ownership of BDA Safety Promotion Plan with EHS and Quality Functions (in close consultation with SMS Training Specialist and Comms Specialist responsible for execution);
- Technical lead for SMS requirements into the P&SS Area of Practice Charts and records in the Technical Authorisation Database (TADB);
- Technical lead for design and delivery of SMS and training throughout BDA in close consultation with the SMS Training Specialist;
- Work with the BDA Training Capability, Human Factors Team and BDA/Boeing Training focals on the planning and delivery of SMS and HF training to meet DASR requirements;
- Engage with the Boeing Enterprise regarding SMS Promotion activities and Safety Policies to ensure alignment with current and upcoming BDA SMS deliverables;
- Monitor and develop SMS culture metrics to assess and evaluate positive safety culture development and sustainment;
- Develop and deliver P&SS awards or recognition program with the support of the Comms Specialist and others as required;
- Develop and deliver Safety Culture programs with SMS Lead.
- Provide technical leadership (in close consultation with Aviation Safety Manager) for development and execution of the bi-annual Safety Culture Survey. Oversee development and execution of meaningful corporate recommendations and action plans from the safety survey;
Experience/Qualifications
**Essential**:
- Knowledge of Safety Management System, ICAO Annex 19 and Defence Aviation Safety Regulations;
- Analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Understanding of the role of Human Factors in safety management;
- Training delivery and instructional techniques training and/or qualification;
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
**Desirable**:
- Safety Management or Risk Management training and/or qualification;
- Safety Investigator training and/or qualification;
- Demonstrated experience writing technical documents and command media;
- Background in communications and/or safety promotion.
