**Description**:
Purpose
The Career and Placement Advisor is critical to fostering valuable relationships with, and between job seekers, employers and industry partners as part of the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) program. The purpose of this role is to achieve high retention rates of apprentices and trainees by identifying the ‘best fit’ employment pathway and finding a balance between job seekers training requirements and the needs of employers.
**Some of the responsibilities include**:
Undertake an Initial Assessment via telephone with the Client or Employer to ascertain suitability for Gateway Services thereby creating a ‘best fit’ scenario.
Liaise with colleagues and employers to develop selection criteria for job vacancies, dependent on each employer’s requirements.
Deliver high-quality and fit-for-purpose tests which properly and effectively assess an individual’s skill level (including foundation skills), skill gaps and aptitude for a variety of training pathways and occupations.
Compile and interpret the results of testing; use test results to determine appropriate training or employment pathways for the client; and provide information to clients on the results of the testing.
Provide advice and support to potential apprentices and trainees to assist them to recognise their best opportunity in the local labour market.
Respond to calls from clients regarding potential career prospects; offering VET Pathways; Pre-Vocational and Pre-Apprenticeship advice and assist them to recognise their best suited opportunities.
In all interactions with stakeholders promote the benefits of employing Australian Apprentices and our services to develop new business opportunities.
**Skills and Experiences**:
Personal Attributes
Strong interpersonal skills - you are an influential communicator who thrives on developing strong relationships with abroad range of stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skill especially with those from diverse backgrounds.
You take initiative, are approachable and demonstrate a high level of customer care.
Commitment to community development and the securing of employment outcomes.
Excellent time management skills and self-management.
Required Experience
Previous experience in career development or employment services.
Proven experience in communicating with a broad range of groups and individuals, and in particular, young people.
Recruitment experience - posting job advertisements, reviewing CVs, phone screening applicants, interviewing etc.
Knowledge of online skill testing tools and experience running assessment centres.
Strong computer skills in Microsoft suite of programs.
Ability to travel throughout Western Australia and an open driver’s license.
Desirable Experience
Experience working within AASN, jobactive, VET, GTO, or career services.
Helpline experience.
Experience in following compliance requirements of a government contract.
Required Qualifications
You hold a Certificate IV in Career Development or are prepared to undertake the qualification within one year of employment.
