Your role at St John of God Berwick Hospital

As a member of the nursing team, the Ward Clerk contributes to the delivery of quality nursing care and is responsible for clerical, reception, requisitioning and courier services as required and any other duties as requested by Nurse Unit Manager.

The Position- Arrange doctor’s appointments, and follow up care as required by day stay staff. Advise patient and nursing staff of arrangements.- Must be prepared to extend hospitality and pastoral care to patient’s relatives in a professional, ecumenical environment.- Escorts medically stable patients to and from other hospital departments (not outside Hospital grounds).- Respectful and compassionate interaction with patients / relatives.- Awareness of maintenance of Privacy / Confidentiality of Medical Records.- Complies Medical Records with in the agreed timeframe.- Performs any clerical/ administrative duties as directed by the Nurse in charge of the shift.- Must possess a friendly approach - a courteous and caring attitude, ensuring that patients’ rights are respected. Knowledge of the Hospital policies, which are designed to meet the patient’s requirements for excellent medical, nursing and pastoral care, as well as the optimal running of the Hospital.- Notify Nurse Unit Manager of dates important to patients, eg. Birthdays, Anniversaries etc.- Computer skills in office packages including Microsoft Office, IBA - PAS and Groupwise.

You will have previous clerical/reception experience in the hospital or health care environment.

To succeed you will have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communications.

We will offer you- Salary: $57,859 to $59,079 per annum (pro rata if part time) plus 11.5% superannuation.- Permanent Part-time role, Working Mon/Tue/Fri (3 days a week 7.5-hour shift)- Salary packaging up to $18,550 on a range of benefits such as mortgage, rent, meal entertainment, holiday accommodation or other everyday living expenses as well as options to salary package benefits above the FBT cap on items such as:
