We Are seeking a talented Data specialist is a key role embedded in digital BI, data, and advanced analytics initiatives at Sydney Trains (inclusive of both business and IT-driven initiatives
**).**

**The role is predominantly responsible for the following**:

- Driving BI, data and advanced analytics-based solutions and prototypes
- Implementing Data engineering, Extract Transform Load solutions and prototypes
- Create sophisticated models for data-ready analysis
- Participate in all phases of the Business Intelligence, Data and analytics development life cycle.
- Responsible for all aspects of the ETL and data management process, including design, development, testing, documentation and support of highly reliable ETL and data management solutions
- Understand functionality, scalability, performance, security, and integration requirements from the database perspective, and translate these requirements into functional, scalable and reusable components for the development framework.
- Responsible for the development of data integration, data discovery architecture and (batch and real-time) processes for the enterprise data repository environment.
- Develop data set processes for data modelling, mining, and production
- Keep up with industry trends and best practices on new and improved data engineering strategies
- Manage, support and troubleshoot technical problems in the enterprise data repository.
- Support the enterprise data governance strategy and recommend and implement approaches to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality
- Ensure that the analytics and reporting architecture that is in place supports the needs of the business Additional activities
- Provide an advisory function for all Directorates and major IT programs
- Maintain the analytics and reporting work register, where applicable

Key Skills
- Degree-qualified in computer science, engineering or a related field
- Minimum of least 5 years experience as a data specialist across multiple platforms in a large and complex organisation.
- Experience in the use of data engineering, ETL, data cleansing, data scrubbing, data discovery and analytics modelling tools.
- Sound proficiency in Domo, IBM Datastage,Tableau and advanced analytics modelling tools.
- Significant experience designing analytical enterprise data repository solutions.
- Strong knowledge of data management, data services and ETL principles, architecture and technologies.
- Extensive experience in data services and ETL development in an enterprise data repository environment.
- Experience in logical and physical and dimensional data modelling, physical database design and performance optimisation.
- Ability to communicate concepts and ideas to stakeholders at all levels, in different shapes depending on the context
- Strong analytic skills/ability to write quality use cases and SQL skills
- Ability to manage business pressures and stakeholder expectations while maintaining a high degree of motivation and professionalism whilst managing multiple work streams
- You have experience working in team environments using the Agile methodology to deliver complex, high-profile projects.
- Superior understanding of sophisticated design and analysis techniques, including data mining and predictive analysis.

Desirable
- Experience Building large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines with data processing frameworks such as Spark, Cloudera, Hortonworks etc.
