Job Description:
CASUAL METEOROLOGIST

Under the direction of the Director of Meteorology, this role is responsible for producing & delivering meteorological products and services at a consistently high level that meets the specific demands of DTNs client base in the Asia Pacific Region. The role will provide leave relief to Meteorology Operations. This is a shift working role and involves work outside normal business hours and weekend.

What you will be responsible for:

- Continuously monitor and analyse evolving weather and climate patterns in order to identify and communicate weather-related impacts.
- Prepare and deliver customised meteorological briefing services by telephone and videoconference to B2B customers.
- Prepare and deliver weather-related interviews and presentations for radio, print and online media.
- Ensure routine deadlines are met for all meteorological tasks specified in daily task lists.
- Complete reports and additional non-operational projects as requested.
- Maintain quality standards of all products and services by following procedures and style guides and by reviewing verification information.

What you will bring to the role:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in meteorology, atmospheric science or climatology.
- Analytical skills, including the ability to analyse spatial patterns.
- A sound understanding of Australian weather patterns and familiarity with the weather forecasting process.
- Ability to work both independently and flexibly as part of a team.
- Interest, knowledge and ability to continually develop meteorological knowledge through research of evolving meteorological techniques and reading of meteorological journals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work successfully under time pressure.
