**THE ROLE**

In this role you will be responsible for securing critical land for Origin to implement high quality carbon farming activities based on knowledge of Australia’s carbon farming methodologies, satellite/aerial imagery analysis and modelling. You will also play a key role in the design and development of those activities.

You will have strong knowledge and experience with carbon farming project development across different sequestration methodologies, including Environmental Plantings and Human Induced Regeneration opportunities.

The role in more detail:

- Identify land suitable for carbon projects under ERF methodologies and monitor projects using Satellite/Aerial Imagery analysis on an ongoing basis.
- Lead the drafting, and review of Origin's GIS procedures for identification, stratification, data management and monitoring of carbon projects in line with best practices and relevant legislature.
- Maintain Origin's spatial database/s and GIS software and hardware for carbon projects, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in the operations.
- Identify opportunities for technological development In GIS and web mapping environments and mentor staff in the use of GIS software.
- Undertake financial analysis, carbon credit forecasts and modelling, risk analysis and due diligence to inform decision making about land acquisitions and carbon project implementation.
- Prepare key business materials including business cases, presentations and reports to senior management to support investment papers, strategy and other internal decisions. Coordinate internal stakeholders (e.g., legal, tax, finance) to successfully complete these documents.

**ABOUT YOU**

To be successful in this role you will come with demonstrated experience and understanding of the Emissions Reduction Fund and/or Carbon Farming, including reporting, compliance and carbon accounting. You will possess the ability to work on multiple complex projects, with excellent attention to detail, strong commercial acumen and advanced written communication skills.

MORE ABOUT YOU:

- Tertiary qualification in Geospatial Science or similar and experience with environmental projects. Ideally experience with ERF vegetation or land-based methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of carbon farming, project development and understanding of existing sequestration methodologies, including environmental plantings, soil carbon and Human Induced Regeneration
- Skilled in Writing technical sections of carbon project Documents and Monitoring Reports, MS Excel, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) such as QGIS
- Familiarity with abatement modelling, such as the Reforestation Modelling Tool (RMT) and/or Full Carbon Accounting Model (FullCAM)
