**About the Research Development Unit**

The newly named Research Development Unit sits within the Clinical Research Directorate alongside the Costa Clinical Trials Centre and HERB Laboratory. The RDU unit is a collaborative and supportive team that is committed to providing our researchers with up to date and comprehensive advice on clinical trial and research project development from early stage idea to publication, including biostatistical advice, analysis and support. The RDU nurtures staff to grow and develop their expertise and knowledge through training, workshop and conference attendance. The RDU will be co-located alongside the Costa Clinical Trial Centre.

**About the role**

To provide applied biostatistical and data analytic training, support and expertise in the areas of research design and analysis to Barwon Health staff and students conducting health and medical research. A secondary responsibility is to provide scientific writing support to designated projects in the production of journal articles for submission to peer reviewed health and medical Journals. This position involves supporting the Research Development Unit, Director of Research and Co-Director of Research to build research capacity and capability within Barwon Health.

Essential: PhD or relevant post-graduate qualification in Applied Statistics/Biostatistics/Statistics and/or Epidemiology, Psychology or demonstrated equivalent competence
Essential: Strong understanding of applied statistics/biostatistical and epidemiological methodology, and the ability to develop applied statistics/biostatistical methodology
Essential: Experience with statistical analysis packages such as SPSS, R, STATA and SAS
Essential: Publications, conference papers, and technical reports with an applied statistics/biostatistics or statistics component
Essential: Understanding of the sensitivity and confidential nature of health information
Desirable: Previous experience teaching applied statistics/biostatistics and data management to health-related research staff and students
