**Position Name Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) Assistant**

**Key Relationships**
On a day to day basis, Out of School Hours Care staff functionally report to
the Head of Preparatory School via the OSHC Director who will provide
guidance and determine staffing requirements. OSHC staff are ultimately
accountable to the Principal via the Director of Business Operations._**_Position Overview: _**
The OSHC Assistants primarily assist the OSHC Director in the implementation of daily routines and programs
by undertaking a range of duties and activities which contribute to the achievement OSHC outcomes. Some
administrative duties will be a component of this support role. The time allocated to each element of the role
will be flexible depending on need and at the discretion of the Head of the Preparatory School and the OSHC
Director._ _
**_Key Responsibilities: _**
- Establish a supportive relationship with students and, where appropriate, their parents;
- Implement and evaluate daily routines in consultation with other staff;
- Implement and evaluate a quality program based on individual and group needs of children under
- supervision;
- Ensure that children’s records are maintained and updated regularly; Provide objective written and
- oral observations of children, as required, while maintaining confidentiality.
- Work with individual children and groups according to their needs.
- Help with preparing afternoon tea and keeping OSHC generally tidy and safe.
- Liaise with parents in a positive, professional and supportive manner.
- Take responsibility in emergencies.
- Report any emergency or hazard to the OSHC Director immediately it is safe to do so.
- Promotion of Vacation Care program.
- Keeping records for the OSHC program. Maintain children’s portfolios with observations, photos,
- learning stories, and examples of work.
- Other duties will be encountered by the role or need to be fulfilled as directed by the Head of
Preparatory School and the OSHC Director.
**_Key Selection Criteria: Qualifications, Skills and Experience _**
- Working towards or enrolled in an approved relevant qualification (eg Diploma in Children’s Services)
**_- _**Knowledge of the National Quality Framework and My Time Our Place curriculum
- Experience in working with children aged 4-12 years
- Good ICT skills.
- Awareness of the Privacy Act and ability to ensure confidentiality.

- Required to demonstrate expertise and the acceptance of personal responsibility.
- Initiative and the capacity for self-direction, while at the same time contributing to the output of the
- larger team.
- A positive, enthusiastic team member with superior organisational skills, the ability to set goals and
- prioritise work, and the capacity to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks.
- An open and friendly disposition and a sense of humour.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to students and parents from a range of age
groups, experiences, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
**_Safety and Wellbeing_**
All staff must:
- Take reasonable care of, and cooperate with actions taken to protect, the health and safety of both
themselves and others
- Report all accidents, incidents and hazards to their supervisors as soon as is practicable
- Read and abide by all WHS policies.
**_Conditions of Employment _**
- All applicants must be eligible to work in Australia
**_- _**All staff must satisfy child protection screening and adhere to Westminster’s Child Safety and
Wellbeing policy which includes holding a current Working with Children Clearance.
