**Key responsibilities of this role**:

- Manage all spatial information of the Cultural Heritage database and register within the online portal to ensure cultural heritage spatial information management and project outcomes are achieved.
- Develop and maintain policies, standards and procedures for the maintenance of cultural heritage spatial information in accordance with the Cultural Heritage Acts and industry standards.
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging trends, technologies and techniques in the field of spatial information and provide recommendations to senior management regarding the adoption of emerging technologies.
- Identify and implement ongoing improvements to the database online portal system architecture as per the Service Level Agreement in place with the external vendor.
- Actively develop incremental improvements to the portal system and provide this information to the Victorian and South Australian Governments as part of established transfer of intellectual property agreements.
- In consultation with the Manager and Director, Cultural Heritage Unit, provide high level and authoritative advice to the Director-General and Minister on complex policy issues and recommend policy and legislative options.
- Provide high level and authoritative advice on cultural heritage spatial data related matters to all stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in relation to the Cultural Heritage Acts.
- Effectively coordinate and lead projects that deliver on strategic initiatives. - Develop and maintain effective relationships, networks and partnerships with stakeholders to achieve policy outcomes and deliver on Government commitments.
- Provide specialist advice and training in the use of the Cultural Heritage online portal, and lead skill development and training programs in spatial information mapping for stakeholders with specific emphasis on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander groups.
- Coordinate and prepare complex reports, policy submissions, briefing notes, presentations, publications and correspondence for consideration by the Manager and Director, Cultural Heritage Unit, Executive staff and the Minister. - Represent the Department at internal and external forums and working groups.
- All staff are responsible for identifying, managing and reporting risks relating to their work with the department.
