**Position Purpose**

Working under the direction of the Head of Data & Insights this position will build, test and continuously improve the data platform and analytics capability within Melba. Collaborating with key stakeholders this position will focus on translating business needs into actionable data solutions by developing, enhancing, and maintaining robust data platforms, reporting tools, and visualisations. The role will also support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency by gathering requirements, analysing data, automating workflows, and ensuring data governance, while promoting continuous improvement and alignment with business objectives.

**What you’ll be doing (Key accountabilities)**

**Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements Gathering**
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business challenges and translate them into data and insights to support data based decision making
- Collaborate with key stakeholders and departments during system implementations to define reporting needs and identify the most effective solutions.
- Partner with technical and non-technical teams to ensure shared understanding of requirements, data, and goals for alignment on delivery. Collaborate closely with the Head of Data & Insights to support strategic priorities and ensure that platform enhancements align with business objectives.

**Data Platform Development & Enhancement**
- Gather, clean, and analyse data from various sources to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide visibility into business performance.
- Write clean, modular Python code to automate data processing tasks and integrate disparate data sources.
- Build reusable scripts and functions to support ad hoc and automated reporting needs.
- Collaborate with BI developers and analysts to align backend data models with dashboard/reporting requirements.
- Proactively identify and implement opportunities to optimise data workflows, automate manual processes, and improve system integration.
- Document code, workflows, and data definitions to support platform maintainability and knowledge sharing.

**Reporting & Visualisation**
- Design and deliver dashboards, reports, and visualisations aligned to stakeholder needs.
- Support the design and implementation of data models, KPIs, and reporting solutions.
- Ensure that all reports and analyses comply with company policies and industry standards.

**Process Improvement & Data Governance**
- Identify opportunities to streamline data collection and reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of data quality, data literacy, and reporting standards across the organisation.

**Testing & Documentation**
- Assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validation of data solutions before deployment.
- Document business processes, data flows, and analytical requirements to sup
