Trainee Maker of Blinds and Awnings

Factory Blinds is a manufacturing retailer of window furnishings including internal blinds and curtains plus external awnings. Our workroom is located at Prospect, Tasmania.

The job would best suit an experienced awning maker but due to limited staff recruiting opportunities Factory Blinds is prepared to invest in taking on an inexperienced trainee to develop and teach the skills of blind and awning making. You will be working with our team of experienced blind manufacturing makers.

The job consists of learning in-house all of the job skills required to calculate materials, check stock, cut to size, electronically weld fabrics, assemble, test and install our awning products.

The job is physical so you are expected to have a minimum standard of fitness and strength to handle and move the componentry products. The job includes manual calculation of formulas so a good standard of mathematical ability and Excel spreadsheets is definitely required. Written and verbal communication with suppliers, customers and other staff is a large component and requirement of the day to day work process. Good social skills are a definite requirement of the job.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 - 38 per week

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
