**The Role**
Reporting to the Group WHSE Manager, the WHSE Generalist’s accountabilities and functions will include providing health, safety and environment support for Southern Ports personnel (including but not limited to Staff, Contractor, Leaseholders, Licensees and other Port Users). Developing, implementing, promoting and continually improving the Port’s WHSE Management Systems to reduce or eliminate WHSE hazards and risks.

The WHSE Generalist will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the project plan to align management systems across the Southern Ports business, implementing an audit program at each Port, supporting the regional WHSE teams and providing leave backfill as required. Regular travel to the Ports is required.

Additionally, the WHSE Generalist may offer advice, support and coordination within the fields of occupational health and hygiene, safety, risk mitigation and environmental management to ensure that legal compliance and governance can be verifiably maintained and reported on across all Ports.

**Key responsibilities include***:

- Assist in developing and implementing aligned WHSE systems.
- Support the team of WHSES teams located at our ports.
- Provide consistent HSES leadership to managers, supervisors, and employees.
- Coordinate the capture and regularly compile, interpret and report relevant statistical data from WHSE reporting systems.
- Implement audit program and conduct WHSSE verification and governance activities and report into systems and processes.

**Experience and skills**
- Diploma/Advanced Diploma or higher in a Health, Safety, and/or Environment related discipline supported by 5+ years experience, including site experience
- Internal Audit Qualification
- Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, monitoring and reporting on HSES initiatives
- Strong ability to effectively work with multiple stakeholders and influence at different levels of an organisation to improve safety culture and performance
- Port HSES experience
- Strong understanding and knowledge of AUS/NZ safety standards
