**The Role**:
As a Disability Support Worker, you’ll provide person-centred supports to persons with disabilities, helping them achieve their personal goals and aspirations to live as independently as possible. The role involves assisting with daily living activities, community participation, social and recreation activities.

**What You’ll Be Doing**:

- Assist high-care clients with daily living activities such as personal care, feeding, shower and toileting, medication, household tasks, etc.
- Prepare meals appropriate for client physical needs and dietary requirements including dysphagia
- Assist high-care clients to participate in community, social and recreation activities
- Assist clients with mobility and transport such as attending appointments with healthcare professionals including doctors, dentist, podiatrist, speech therapist, physio, psychologist, etc
- Mentor clients to develop skills in daily living and community participation according to individual plan and goals
- Build capacity for clients needing high care
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Implement behaviour support strategies according to behaviour support plan
- Document client progress through written case notes and reports

**What We’re Looking For**:

- You must have a good understanding of NDIS principles and values and demonstrated experience in person-centred supports delivery.
- Knowledge of first aid, CPR and medication administration
- Knowledge of food preparation according to special dietary requirements
- Ability to support clients with a variety of disabilities including those with high-care needs and co-presenting mental illnesses
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to handle challenging behaviours
- Patient, understanding, supportive and caring nature
- You must have a Certificate III or higher, or at least two years of relevant work experience in lieu
- You must have at least one year of relevant work experience
