**About the Role**
COPE is seeking a Rehabilitation Counsellor to join our growing team. The Rehabilitation Counsellor will provide individualised, recovery-oriented support to people experiencing psychosocial challenges, including NDIS participants and others who face barriers to employment, community participation, and social connection. The role involves therapeutic engagement, vocational and psychosocial rehabilitation, and case coordination to support participants in developing the skills, confidence, and resources needed to live independently and achieve their personal goals.
This is an outreach-based /office -based position and may require regular travel across the Perth metropolitan area. A full driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle are essential.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Conduct psychosocial and vocational assessments to identify participants’ strengths, barriers, and goals.
- Develop and implement individual rehabilitation and recovery plans in collaboration with participants.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions aimed at enhancing emotional regulation, motivation, social participation, and community engagement.
- Provide counselling and adjustment-to-disability support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, trauma, or loss.
- Facilitate access to education, training, employment, and community resources, promoting independence and self-efficacy.
- Collaborate with families, allied health professionals, and external stakeholders to coordinate holistic and person-centred support.
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports in line with NDIS requirements and COPE policies.
- Participate in clinical supervision and reflective practice sessions to ensure quality of care and professional development.
**Selection Criteria**
**Essential**:
- A degree in Rehabilitation Counselling, Counselling, Psychology, or a related allied health discipline.
- Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with psychosocial disability, mental health, or complex trauma.
- Strong understanding of person-centred practice, recovery-oriented frameworks, and the NDIS operating environment.
- High-level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage participants with empathy, respect, and cultural sensitivity.
- Excellent organisational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
**Desirable**:
- Experience delivering psychosocial rehabilitation, vocational counselling, or return-to-work interventions.
- Previous experience in NDIS, mental health outreach, or community services.
