About the role

We are seeking a values-driven Youth Pastor to oversee all current Youth (from Y7 to Y12) ministries and facilitate new Youth ministry opportunities within the Corps and the community, in line with the Corps vision of “Hope, Freedom Transformation through Jesus” as well as with The Salvation Army mission.

You will successfully
- Oversee, develop, support and champion all programming for high school aged Youth on Fridays, Saturdays (as required) and Sundays throughout the year
- Lead, empower and coordinate Youth Leadership Team
- Communicate all events and programming with Youth, parents and office staff in a timely manner
- Involvement in organising and attending programs where Youth and other areas combine including intergenerational events
- Coordinate, identify and develop leaders and Youth with potential to serve in ministries and program
- Provide pastoral care to Youth and Youth Leaders
- Develop smooth transition for kids moving into Youth and then Youth transitioning to Young Adults
- Active involvement in all aspects of Corps life including membership of the Mission Leadership Team and Leadership Community
- Oversight yearly NBC Youth camp
- Create environments, activities and programs that will facilitate learning, build community and relationships as well as spiritual formation
- Maintain a strategy of welcoming and connecting new attendees into North Brisbane Youth Ministries
- Support and encourage Youth at NBC to participate in wider Salvation Army Youth events
- Encourage an awareness of the broader social community amongst the Youth and organise relevant outings/involvement as applicable
- Oversee budget and ensure finances are up-to-date and oversight fundraising, as needed
- Recruit, develop, and empower volunteers and leaders to serve in Youth ministries
- Provide/organise relevant training to volunteers and leaders including (but not limited to) Child Safe Training
- Participate in team activities, attend staff meetings when scheduled and demonstrate a supportive approach to other staff members
- Create and maintain safe places for Youth to attend NBC

This is a part-time (or full-time), fixed-term role (12 months term) position located in North Brisbane, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Hays Leve 12, award free.

You will have
- 2-3+ years experience in Youth Ministries
- Sound level of computer literacy
- Formal qualifications in theology or youth ministries
- Active Salvation Army Soldier or willingness to move towards Soldiership
- Driver’s licence
- Bus licence or willingness to obtain bus licence
- Blue card and has completed Safe Salvos training or willingness to complete the training
- An ability to offer pastoral assistance and have the ability to offer prayer and explain the Christian gospel
- An understanding of and empathy with the Christian faith, values and ethos of The Salvation Army
- A national police record check is required
- A current QLD Working with Children’s Check (Blue Card) is Required
- Adhere to Salvation Army Business Dealings expectations as outlined in Business Dealings Form
