**The Opportunity**:
Lithgow City Council has an attractive opportunity for a professionally focussed planner to join our Development Planning team and work across both rural and urban environments.

Lithgow is a central location for a regional lifestyle and great outdoor recreational activities, and is also only a few hours drive from Sydney. Lithgow lies adjacent to the new Gardens of Stone State Conservation Area and Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, while being less than 30 minutes drive to Blackheath in the Blue Mountains, and 45 minutes drive to Bathurst.

**About you**:

- Relevant recognised tertiary qualifications in town planning or related discipline (graduates or pending graduates will be considered).
- Working knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2021, State Environmental Planning Policies and the Local Government Act 1993
- Sound understanding of rural and urban land use planning including social, environmental, and economic issues associated with planning practices and systems
- Well-developed communication skills and ability to prepare a wide range of communication materials, including reports, correspondence, submissions, policies, procedures, and other corporate documents
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to assist in completing planning activities
- Understanding of record management practices
- Well-developed computer literacy skills including the NSW Planning Portal, Microsoft Office, and Geographic Information Systems
- Demonstrated ability to comply with the WHS Act and Regulations, Safe Work NSW Codes of Practice, Australian Standards and Council’s WHS Policies and Procedures
- Current Class C Drivers licence
