Work cooperatively with all staff in Pathology Queensland - Central, Chemical Pathology laboratories and ensure effective communication within the team, and with clients internal and external to the laboratory, to ensure the smooth operation of the Department.

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. Within the context of the responsibilities described above under 'Your role', the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

- This is a modern laboratory with a positive culture and a high performing team, so qualities of resilience, well-developed communication skills and ability to contribute positively to a team environment are essential.
- Experience in or the ability to rapidly learn pathology pre-analytical processes, e.g. sorting, coding, data entry, aliquoting, parcel management, storage, retrieval of specimens etc, in a large and complex core laboratory unit.
- Proven ability to solve problems and show initiative in the workplace.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively in a highly process driven environment with competing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to focus in a busy, complex environment.
- Highly developed customer focus with experience dealing with a variety of people and a high level of awareness of impact of the individual on the overall customer experience.
- Understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification.
- Awareness of the human resource management policies applicable to contemporary workplaces.

Mandatory qualifications/professional registration/other requirements
- Nil mandatory qualifications are required for this role although a Certificate III Pathology (or similar) or ability to gain this qualification is desirable.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements
- It may be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella, and Varicella.
- Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.
