Ballarat Specialist School seeks an enthusiastic Early Childhood Co-Educator to work in our Early Learning Centre. Located at Ballarat Specialist School, the centre offers funded three
- and four-year-old kindergarten. We provide a program that is inclusive of all children and welcome children and families to our centre.
The Early Learning Centre is located at Ballarat Specialist School¿s Gillies Street campus
**Selection Criteria**:
- Qualifications and experience in working with preschool children
- Experience and/or a strong interest in working with young children with additional needs
- Experience in using positive engagement strategies to support children¿s learning and behaviour
- To work effectively as part of a team and to and manage time effectively with limited direction
- To communicate effectively with children, parents, staff and other professionals
- Knowledge of the Early Years Learning Frameworks and willingness to contribute to the centre¿s Quality Improvement Plan
**Role**:
- Work cooperatively as a member of a team, and assist with the provision of a high-quality educational program.
- Work under the direction of the teacher in accordance with the requirements the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010, Education and Care Services National Regulations.
- Be aware of, and assist with, implementing the service¿s policies and procedures.
- Be actively involved in the implementation of the Early Years Learning Frameworks and the development of the Quality Improvement Program
- Follow and comply with Child Safe Standards
The Early Childhood Co-Educator is responsible to the kindergarten teacher on a day-to-day basis for implementing the program¿s aims and is accountable to the centre¿s Director and the School Principal.

Work under the direction of the teacher in accordance with the requirements the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010, Education and Care Services National Regulations.
Be aware of, and assist with, implementing the service¿s policies and procedures.
Be actively involved in the implementation of the Early Years Learning Frameworks and the development of the Quality Improvement Program
Assist with the preparation, general cleanliness and safety of the service and the packing away of equipment and materials as directed by the teacher.
Other duties as directed.
**Specific responsibilities**
Children
¿ Assist with the program and daily routines as directed by the teacher.
¿ Assist the teacher in providing a healthy, safe, and welcoming environment for the children and families attending the service.
¿ Assist in working with individual and small groups of children
¿ Assist in working with individual and small groups of children.
¿ Attend to the children's physical, social and emotional needs as required.
¿ Ensure that any child or group of children in the assistant¿s care are adequately supervised and that every reasonable precaution is taken to protect them from any hazard.
¿ Inform the teacher or leadership team if the requirements of the Regulations or the Act are not being met.
¿ Take written observations of children as required under the teacher¿s direction.
¿ Assist with the preparation and cleaning-up of activities under the supervision of the teacher. Parents
¿ Assist in welcoming families and developing positive relationships.
¿ Encourage and assist parents to consult with the teacher on issues of children¿s development and program.
¿ Maintain confidentiality on all issues relating to children and families and comply with the service¿s privacy policy.
Staff
Work as a member of a cooperative and professional team.
Attend meetings as directed by the teacher.
Be actively involved in the National Quality Standard and the development and implementation of the Quality Improvement Plan of the service.
Participate in the schools' staff review processes.
Participate in relevant professional development and training programs.
Ensure that correct safety procedures are followed at all times.

Certificate 3 in Early Childhood and Care or equivalent
Diploma of Early Childhood and Care or equivalent
