**About the Team**

As part of the Parking & Rangers Unit, within our Environment & Planning Directorate, the Rangers team support the provision of safe and accessible public spaces for the community. This sometimes challenging, yet rewarding role, deals with a broad range of duties including matters relating to companion animals, unauthorised use of public spaces and abandoned or unattended items. Team members are encouraged to show initiative, while working within legislative constraints to investigate and take appropriate regulatory action in an efficient manner.

Due to internal promotions an exciting opportunity has become available for a Ranger and Ranger - Companion Animals to join our dynamic and integral Rangers team.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about providing safe, accessible public places for the community as well as promoting responsible animal ownership within the local government area.
- Two (2) Opportunities - Ranger and Companion Animals Ranger
- Permanent, Full time - 70 hours per fortnight
- Salary from $72,980.48 - $84,559.01 per annum plus 10.5% superannuation

**Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications**
- Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or equivalent Local Government Regulatory Qualifications or enrolled in and working towards such qualification.
- Class C Drivers licence.
- Previous experience in undertaking Local Government regulatory duties.
- Experience in the use of the SEINS system.
- Knowledge of the issuing of Notices/Orders under the Local Government Act and Companion Animals Act.
- Knowledge of the Protection of the Environment Operations Act pertaining to water, litter and noise pollution.
- Experience in the preparation of statements for prosecution in the Local Court.
- Sound verbal and written communication skills. - Sound computer skills - experience in the use of Excel, Word and Outlook.
- High level of customer service focus with sound conflict resolution and mediation skills.
- Flexibility to work outside of an in addition to normal hours of work.
- Proven ability to work well within a team environment.
- A demonstrated commitment to EEO and WHS principles.

**Desirable**
- The ability to speak a community language (e.g., Arabic, Mandarin, Cantonese, Italian, Greek, Macedonian or Vietnamese).
- Knowledge and understanding of local government processes and procedures.
