**Position Information**:
Weston Public School is located inland in the electorate of Cessnock. It serves a community in which many families identify as being in the low socio-economic group and provides quality education to students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school strives to give all students the opportunity to reach the highest outcomes in all aspects of their development (academic, personal, social, cultural, sporting and civic). There are currently 254 students enrolled at the school of which 25% identify as Aboriginal. The local AECG committee and executive take a very positive and active interest in the school's learning, welfare and cultural programs and promote these within the Aboriginal community.

Weston Public School is a proud member of the Kurri Kurri Learning Community (KKLC). The KKLC works together to promote a comprehensive education from K-12 in the Kurri Kurri area through a collaborative approach to programming, teaching practices and processes.

Our positive behaviour for learning (PBL) values of being safe, respectful and responsible guides and promotes a harmonious school environment. The school has developed an outstanding reputation with dedicated, professional and conscientious staff members both teaching and non-teaching who have contributed to the growth of our school from 8 to 10 classes over the past 3 years.

A number of significant programs, including explicit instruction and visible wellbeing, are being implemented to ensure students are provided consistently targeted teaching in Literacy and Numeracy to improve learning outcomes and positive wellbeing and engagement.

Community satisfaction is an area of focus that we continue to build and strengthen. Our aim is to work together with our parents and carers as partners in learning to maximise student learning outcomes, their sense of wellbeing, positive attendance and a priority to succeed and excel to be the best they can be.

**Selection Criteria**:
1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary

2. Demonstrated ability in leading and implementing the Australian Curriculum with a focus on technology to support student learning outcomes and teacher professional learning for the 21st Century learner

3. Demonstrated capacity or experience in developing, delivering, and monitoring effective student and whole school personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) programs including whole school sport

4. Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships within the school and wider community

5. Understanding the educational implications for schools meeting the needs of students from low socio-economic status communities

6. Capacity and commitment to foster positive cultural partnerships and learning environments for students identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5.
