**The Role**

If you are looking for a long term contract with a high profile federal government department and are an experienced EL 1 Program or Policy Officer, then this just might be the role you are looking for

**Duties**:

- Policy development to support the delivery of government initiatives and integrated research sector outcomes including:

- Delivery of Start-up year to drive innovation
- Research commercialisation to drive economic outcomes
- Project design and program management to optimise research program and related data system performance including:

- Management of large government grants programs such as the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy
- Oversight of data system build, optimisation, and/or remediation work

**Essential Capabilities and Experience**:

- Self-Motivation, leadership and maturity commensurate with the role of a team leader;
- leadership skills, consistent with the ability to supervise small teams;
- critical thinking, analytical, evaluation and problem-solving skills to traverse highly complex and/or sensitive policy areas;
- astute judgement and program management skills to effectively manage competing priorities, navigate complex stakeholder relationships and deliver on time when under pressure;
- excellent communication skills to ensure impact in both written products and oral presentations; and
- superior negotiation skills to drive forward our agenda while building lasting relationships with all stakeholders.

**Do You Have Experience In?**
- Liaising with external and internal stakeholders
- Preparing a range of program documentation including guidelines, instructions, advice, and other operational policy artefacts
- Ensuring the management of initiatives in a manner consistent with relevant policies
- Preparation of responses to regular coordination requests
- Progress procurement of personnel and consultants
- Manage governance and secretariat functions Capabilities
- High level conceptual skills and the ability to understand complex problems, develop evidence-based solutions and communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
- Proficient use of data, including the ability to undertake research and analysis and effectively use data to prepare reports for different audiences
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain positive collaborative working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated planning and organisational skills, including ability to meet deadlines with competing priorities and delivering work to a high standard with good attention to detail
- Demonstrated high standard of written and verbal communication skills, including strong interpersonal and communication skills
