The job requires a suitably experienced and qualified Metallurgical Engineer with at least 1 years' experience working in Cast Iron Foundries.
Skills and experience required include but are not limited by the following:

- Manage melt deck and casting operations.
- Prepares the charge furnace on the previous day, if possible, if not, at the commencement of the shift
- Starts up furnace and checks enclosed cooling system and leak detector system.
- Prioritise Cast Sheet in consultation with Foundry Foreman.
- Monitor and maintain induction melting equipment and associated metal handling equipment.
- Monitor furnace controls to maintain temperature and metal quality.
- Maintain melt deck Diary recording all relevant parameters of melting and pouring operations.
- Ensure product certification for chemistry and material properties is achieved as per customer specifications.
- Relines furnaces as directed by the Metallurgist.
- Carry out Charge calculations as per the Material Specifications and weigh out alloying elements and other furnace additions as required.
- Monitor and maintain the effective operation of the Cooling Towers.
- Control casting operations to ensure conformance of finished product.
- Calibrate and record furnace instruments.
- Check and perform maintenance on the Ladles and SG Iron Treatment lids when required.
- Support visual inspection of cast products for defects.
- Other duties as directed by the Metallurgist or Foundry Foreman.

Pay: $75,000.00 per year

- Bachelor Degree (preferred)
