**About the role**:
**We’re looking for a Data Analyst with practical experience in a commercial or government environment to join our Compliance Assurance team. In this role, you’ll work with large and complex datasets, extracting insights that drive decision-making and enhance customer experiences. You’ll play a key role in identifying revenue opportunities, improving processes, and supporting strategic initiatives.

**What you’ll be doing**:

- Analysing large, disparate datasets to uncover trends and business opportunities
- Developing reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using Tableau or Power BI
- Using SQL and PySpark (essential), along with R, Python, KNIME, or RedPoint DM to process and analyse data
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives through data-driven insights
- Fostering effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality data-driven solutions

**What we’re looking for**:

- Practical experience in a commercial or government environment, working with large datasets
- Advanced conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and uncover insights
- Proficiency in SQL and PySpark (essential)
- Experience in R, Python, KNIME, RedPoint DM, Tableau, or Power BI is also desirable
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights and collaborate effectively with stakeholders
- A degree in analytics, data science, or a related field - or equivalent hands-on experience

**What we need from you**:
You also need to respond to the following two targeted questions
- Describe a project or task where you used PySpark in a professional setting. What problem were you solving, what approach did you take, and what was the outcome? (max. 500 words)
- Give an example of a complex data-related problem you had to investigate. What was your role, what challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them? (max. 500 words)

Salary Grade 7/8, with the base salary for this role starting at $110266 base plus superannuation
