**Your new team**
Ward 7B is looking for a passionate leader to join the management team A rare opportunity to become an ANUM on the Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant ward at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH). One of the largest Haematology and Transplant centres in Australia, we provide world class care to patients from Victoria and interstate. This fast paced role would suit individuals who are able to set high standards of clinical care, maintain safety of a ward, have great assessment skills, can facilitate patient flow and coordinate complex treatment for acute patients.
- Ratios
- 1:3 daytime, 1:5 night time. Well supported area with Clinical Nurse Educators (Mon-Fri), Clinical Resource Nurse 09300-1800 (Mon-Sun), Health Assistants in Nursing AM/PM shifts (Mon-Sun) and Supernumerary Nurse in Charge.
- Ward
- 32 single beds. Approximately 90 staff members.
- We are a designated state-wide provider for services including trauma, and we lead centres of excellence for tertiary services in several key specialties including neurosciences, nephrology, oncology, cardiology and virtual health
**Your new role**:
- Support the NUM to ensure high quality nursing care is provided. This includes the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation for care of haematology and bone marrow transplant patients
- Mentor and develop all members of staff (students, GNP, new starters and permanent ward staff)
- Coordinate patient treatment (chemotherapy and stem cell transplants) for any Cancer patient within RMH
- Fast paced environment that requires good assessment skills and ability to escalate care needs for the deteriorating patient
- Work with a very collaborative nursing, medical and allied health team
- Opportunities to attend education study days; Beyond the Basics (2 day Haematology course) and BMT Study day.
- Education programs including RISE (Registered Nurse Introduction to Specialty Education) and a Graduate Certificate through University of Melbourne
**About you**:
- Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Great communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with other staff, patients and families
- Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload
- Passion for leadership and management
- Chemotherapy competent
